Water that becomes trapped beneath pavement softens the supporting base, weakens the soil, and allows movement to begin. Once movement starts, cracks, settlement, rutting, and uneven surfaces usually follow. That’s why drainage is never an afterthought. We study how water moves across the property.

Where does it collect?

Where does it naturally flow?

How will roof runoff affect the pavement?

Will neighboring grades direct additional water toward the driveway?

These questions often determine the long-term success of the project long before the pavement is installed.

A Strong Base Does More Than Hold the Surface
